The playin' part of Labor Day

Well, the weekend wasn't ALL work. Saturday afternoon we went to the river. Sniff, sniff- our time with the ol' dirty is drawing to a close.... but not yet! This is Jeremy on the jet ski and Stuart on the knee board.
... and another sweet action shot.
Sunday, we went to the last Traveler's game at Ray Winder field. There were something like 8,000 people there, and we even had to sit in the grass. It was a gorgeous day, and we got a little crispy.
Yeah, we're pretty cute.  Posted by Picasa

Oh, sweet relief

Last night, Jeremy and I grilled out on his deck. On my way home, I drove with the windows down, and it was actually chilly. You know what that means, people. We've almost made it...
Corduroys and jackets, here we come. Enjoy your last day of August!

Let me just say...

Yes, I do. I really, really do. They should let me do their advertising. :)

Picasso, baby duckies, and above-ground pool awesomeness

Sorry for the delay on the weekend bloggiture. Here we go...! Saturday we went to the River Market for some absolutely fantabulous Greek food from a scary Greek man. He sure does know how to make that falafel though. Mmmmm... After that, we went to the Picasso exhibit at the Arts Center. It was great. SO great, in fact, that I made a worksheet right there on the spot for the kiddoes to fill out and get some extra credit for the espanol. Ahhh yes.
On our way out the door, still fully reveling in all of Picasso's glory, we came across this happy little duck family. Followin' their mama. Everybody say, "awwww!" You know you did in your head already. I know it.
A fun side note, when I googled the Arkansas Arts Center, this is the second picture I found. It's from this website which is kind of hilarious. Look at the other pictures from inside the museum. With commentary. Apparently by a sheep-like thing.
To finish up an almost perfect Saturday, we blew up an above-ground inflatable pool, put it in the backyard, and played Marco Polo. All of us. It was the time of my life. Wish I had pictures of the real thing, but you'll have to settle for.... uhhhh... this fine group of people. In a field.
Have a good week, all!

Friday has arrived once again.

Since there are only two days till Kat and Karl's anni... I decided to post a picture of them tyin' the ol' proverbial knot. Love to you both! Have a fabulous time in the Lou (am I allowed to say that, not being a St. Louis person?... is it copyrighted?... I like the sound of it)!
Today has been full of lots of computer fixin. My mind is still slightly boggled by the fact that I'm the school's "go-to" person for computer issues. I'm the tech support... it's fascinating.
The weekend is finally here, so let's celebrate! I have no real plans right now. I'm kind of excited about it. Have a good weekend, all! (Picture source)

I kind of like this...

I'm learning to do videos on my blog now... so here's Obadiah Parker with an awesome "Hey Ya" cover. Enjoy. And look forward to lots more videos on my bloggity blog. I love the internet.

Dear state of Arkansas: thanks for the info!

An interesting fact: it turns out that if you have your car appraised after May 31, you get a 10% penalty on top of your taxes. Being the proud owner of a "new" 2004 Civic, I was penalized an awesome $230. Fantastic! Never got a notice that I needed to appraise or NOTHIN'! Thanks, AR.
On the up side, I got a brand spankin' new license plate with some bling bling on it. Faaaaaancy.

Hi. I'll be your 1st grade teacher today.

Today is going to be rather interesting in the world of me... I am going to sub for the 1st grade teacher at 1 till the end of the day. That's 2 hours in a contained classroom with 6 year olds. Pray for me. Hopefully they'll have plenty to do and they won't be able to smell my fear. Oh dear...
I decided to post the picture because it makes me happy and calms my nerves. That's Chandle there in the penguin suit. And I'm Billy Madison. One of our many "couple's coustumes" in college.
Ammendment to the "Snakes on a Plane" frenzy: I WILL NOT BE GOING. I saw on the news last night that some crazy person released real, live rattlesnakes in a showing of the movie. NUH-uh. I'm out. OUT.
Tonight's "Project Runway." Thank goodness.

Week #2 back in the work force

It's Monday once again, and this is my first full week with the kiddoes. Should be very exciting. My weekend (as were several people's in the blogosphere) was extremely laid back but lovely. No going out for me... this school thing's about to wear me out! But it was very nice. Well, holy cow: "Snakes on a Plane" made $15.25 million this weekend. That's absolutely amazing. Now I know I must go see it. I hear it's very audience-interactive with people shouting at the screen and with fun to be had by all. I've been forseeing this for months now. I just can't believe it's true.
Also, volleyball starts today!! Send Kristen some lovin' cause she has a team all by herself this year! She did so well, we decided she needed her very own 6th graders. I'll be coaching 7th and 8th grade. Should be lots of fun! We will be busy till about October/November with it. Here we go!!
In other news: David and Judith (pictured here) are back from their wedding/honeymoon in Hawaii. Congratulations to them!!

Fun stuff on Friday

Jeremy sent me this comic from this website which made me laugh a lot. Thanks, yo.

Also funny this day:
read about the "evil looking beast" that was found in Maine. It's some sort of hybrid mutant, ya'll (courtesy of my lovely Best Week Ever).

Ohh, ohh! And "Snakes on a Plane" is opening tonight. Now that's comedic genius. And media genius. Click
right here to watch a trailer of some of the best American film has to offer right now. PS, I can't decide if I'll see it or not. The pop-culture-obsessed part of me says OF COURSE I will, but the part of me that's terrified of snakes says THAT'S CRAZY TALK. To be determined...
Have a great weekend! Do something fun!

Ohhhhhhhhh....

Back to school! Back to school, to prove to Dad that I'm not a fool! I got my lunch packed up, my boots tied tight, I hope I don't get in a fight! Ohhhh, back to school! Back to school! Back to school! Well, here goes nothing!

Did you get the reference?? ... Yesterday went really well. No big drama ramas. However, we DID just get our air conditioning and server connections working out here in the trailers (plural- I have two now). So I am just now able to print and view my oh-so-important documents that I create. Like vocab. That's important. Today's our first full day, so be thinking of me!

Goodbye Summer of Fun '06!!!

You have been so good to me... I shall miss you dearly. Fear not, there are still plenty of good weekends to come, but it won't be the same. I'll never forget you. Farewell, sweet summer. Farewell. Posted by Picasa

My bad! Seriously.

Sincere apologies for my lack of updates lately. I know everyone just keeps waiting by the computer to hear from me... kidding. But I've been so stinkin' busy. School starts Wednesday , and I'm definitely not ready yet. Today there was no air conditioning, and my classroom was literally 93 degrees. And there was no computer access. So no bloggity blog from work today. I will do my best to update more now that I'll be on a more steady schedule. Don't hate me, Brooke! :)
Weekend: Friday I met up with Melissa and Greg (see next post) at Ciao Bacci's and then a whole slew of you people met up with us there. Blake was in town! Holla! PS, their watermelon drinks are fan-freaking-tastic. Quite pricey, but delicious. Saturday: went to the Clinton School fish fry with Chandle. I met David Pryor. Oooooooooooh! Big time. It was fun. Sunday: river fun, but then it stormed on us, which made me sad. Then I watched "Sin City" and ate Chinese Kitchen. It was fabulous.

This is my favorite picture from Friday night... Kat hasn't seen it yet. I was taking a picture of Melissa and Greg and she was in the corner. Kat is BY FAR one of my favorite people. Ever. Posted by Picasa
Awwwwwwwww.... they're too cute. Just slightly over a month till they're gettin' hitched! Hoorah!
Ok, guys, once again, I apologize for my lack of bloggiture. I will pick up the pace SOON. Much love.

Thank GOD!

There has been some serious progress in my classroom! Thanks to the wonderful artistic talents of one of my former students, things have finally started to come together! So this is the new GT (otherwise known as CLUE)/Creative Writing room. We're doing an archaeology theme for part of the year in GT, so that's why I picked this guy. Those little things scattered around the rest of the board are archaeologist hammers/picks with the kiddies' names on them. Whew. Progress is good.

Michael Jackson says: Don't stop till you get enough...

Jaime just e-mailed me some more fantabulous pictures from Judith's party, so I am sharing a few of those as well. Thanks, Jaime!

Hooray for Judith!

Saturday was Miss Judith's bachelorette party which was ever-so-fabulous. Did I mention that I took 78 pictures?? 78. Photos. Of us. So I have many, and they're fun. So bear with me and look at all the girlies! We started off at Leslie's house, then to Cornerstone, then to Ernie Bigg's. Here are more pictures...

Friday, August 04, 2006

Holla it's Friday!

Went to the movies with a whole bunch of girlies on Wednesday. Saw "John Tucker Must Die." YOU must go see. Luuuuuuuurved it. On our way out, we saw this gem of bloggiture. Couldn't resist. Go team Annie! Thumbs up.
I'm back at work. Read on.

Before...

Sadness. Blank walls. Dark and gloomy. No fun to be had here!

After! (Mostly)

Here's the after-shot. These are my two favorites. The boy and girl have their body parts labeled (eyes and nose in Spanish, let's keep it clean, folks!). The yellow one says "We speak Spanish!" and has a whole bunch o' celebs. (scroll down for details)

And the best one is....

Ahhh yes, Eric Estrada. Also featured: Ricky Martin, Speedy Gonzalez, Ricky Ricardo, Antonio Banderas, Frida Kahlo, Diego Rivera, Penelope Cruz, Selena, J-Lo, Marc Anthony... and more! I love it. Updates soon on the GT room once I get it freaking done. Have a good weekend!
