Lucero show #278

There is absolutely no way I could possibly count the number of shows I have been to. It's fun when you recognize people you have been seeing at shows for years. You give each other an awknowledging nod. We miss Chandle and David- we tried to call you both, well, a couple of times. Sorry the messages probably sounded like a bunch of loudness with your friends yelling. We were ok. :) It was a fabulous time. Ben and I are starting to get really cozy, eh? He was totally sweaty. Awesome.
Afterwards, we went over to Blue and Leah's house. Got to hang out with my old pal, Mozart. Can't wait for them to move to Little Rock!
Weekend: Jenny and Brooke in town tonight, school carnival tomorrow (wanna come?), and uhhh... that's it!
Soundstage hasn't changed a bit since we were at ol' UCA. It's still dark, sweaty, and loud. Ahhhh memories.
Apparently Cody has issues keeping his eyes open when taking a picture in a semi-dark space. He didn't want me to put it up, but it's too funny, Boo! Have a good weekend, everyone!

On my way out of town I drive by your house... two times

As Sapphire in "Almost Famous" says:

"They don't even know what it is to be a fan. Y'know? To truly love some silly little piece of music, or some band, so much that it hurts."

For those of you who have never seen or heard, or for those of you who love them but haven't seen them in a while, I give you:

#14 from the first album

Kiss the Bottle

Dangerous Thing

The War

Holla, holla.

Looks like it is Monday once again, and there is nothing we can do to stop it. The good news: I have 25 days of school left, and this weekend was fantabulous. Saturday I went to the sandbar on the ol' dirty river and jet skiied to my heart's content. We stayed out there all day, so I am a bit crispy with the sunburn (whoops). I know that some of you might think the river is grody, what with the gars, enormous catfish, and the dead bodies that are found there, but I say it's a good time. The trick is definitely found in not thinking about those things for too long. You get used to it. Ok, ok, it's kind of gross, but it's all about proximity.
Annie bought a grill (sung to the tune of "Janie Got a Gun"). Last night we beebeequed with Matty P. (hot dogs and veggie burger for me). It worked like a champ. Just another sign that that Summer Break '06 (whooooooo!) is just around the corner...
You might be asking yourself why there is a picture that exists on the web with a cat on a grill. That's an excellent question, dear friends. An excellent question.

Zoinks!

Everybody, be sure to check out what Matt and Lindsay have to say today! After that, ponder how it's raining like cats and these guys out there. Both are guaranteed to make your day just a bit brighter!
No weekend plans yet... besides continuing on with the vow of poverty I have decided to take. Really, it's the one the state of Arkansas has forced me to take. I'm starting to get good at it.
amendment to this post: I just went into the school building (from my trailer classroom), and I heard what I thought were screams, then I realized it was hysterical laughter. Then the 4th grade teacher told me stop going down the hall because there was a flipping SNAKE in the hallway. A snake. In the hallway. Of my school. The valiant 5th grade teacher threw it out the door to the football field. But that's not quite good enough for me. I knew that it would be haunting me alllll day. It's not that far of a journey for a snake to travel from there to my classroom. It would burst in and eat me and all my students.
Ok, ok, so it was tiny. But that bothers me too. That means there was a big mama snake to birth that disgusting thing. So the science teacher (who might be a little insane, I think) went out there and picked it up. I think he's keeping it as a pet in his classroom. I'm never going in there again. I'm officially disturbed.

By the way, that is TWO snake incidents for me here at school. I'm quitting. :)

Un Mas...

Be sure to check out Cody on AETN on Saturday at 5 for the Arkansas Quiz Bowl Tournament. He'll be the really hot coach from Mo-Town. Uhhh... go Devil Dogs, or something!

Higher Eduction for me, please!

So the new plan for my life at this point in time is grad school. Apparently, UALR has a top-secret grad school program where I can get my masters in secondary education and my teaching certificate at the same time. Why I never heard this, I'm not sure... but it's true. So this is now dubbed Plan B: Elizabeth's Future. The good thing is that I can take these classes and still teach here at CLS. I've already applied for general grad school, and they are sending me info for the next step for this particular program. I'm pretty pumped about it. I miss school- the papers, the studying, the walking around campus. I'm a book geek, what can I say? It may not happen in the fall, since I'm just now figuring all this out, but by the spring semester of next year for sure. I will keep you posted!

Guess who's not at work today?

My weekend= fantastico. First of all, it was lovely having Friday off, as it is to have Monday off as well. Well, techinically, I'm 30 minutes away from it being Monday. But that's just me, I'm CRAZY and stay up till like midnight when I don't have school.
Friday- party at Katie's- mucho fun-o. Glad that some of you got to come. But... once again I did not take one picture. I am a bad blogger. Sorry. I will have pictures soon.
Meanwhile, to keep yourself entertained, go to
this website, download a picture of yourself, and see what celebrity you resemble. My results: Bridget Fonda. The girl from "Jackie Brown...?" Uhhhh... also Meg Ryan, Nicole Richie, Brittany Murphy, Sofia Coppola, Nicole Kidman, Carrie Underwood, Charlize Theron, Rachel Bilson, and Daryl Hannah. I look ABSOLUTELY nothing like these women (first of all, they're all blonde except for the chick from the OC), but thanks, Face Recognition. I will go to bed with that pat on the back. Even though it's completely false.
Meanwhile, I uploaded a picture of some of you people. Just for funsies. The Jeremy= Eminem, Justin Timberlake (I KNEW I liked that boy), and David Beckham. Chandle= Julianne Moore and Jerry Garcia (WHAT????). Cody= David Duchovny and Haley Joel Osment. Kristen= Heather Locklear and Sissy Spacek (spelling...?). Kat= Jennifer Love Hewitt, Kristin Davis, and Naomi Watts. Annie= Felicity Huffman and Linda Hamilton. Leah= J Lo and Kate Winslet. Holy cow, this is fun. Ok, stopping now.
What were YOUR results??

Calling all Little Rockers

For immediate release: Katie and Jared are throwing a big ol' bash this weekend. They've decided they've had enough of this "we're old and don't have fun anymore" thing. So they're being proactive about it. Tell your friends and come have fun with us. If you need directions, let me know! Leave a comment here if you're gonna be able to make it. Spring Break '06 lives on!! In spirit, at least...

A bee in my bonnet

When I was a wee child, every time spring would roll around, I wanted very little else than to get a new Easter dress and to wear a dang Easter bonnet. What the heck ARE those things, anyway? Why do people wear them? When I googled for an image, I came across just as many pictures of creepy looking dogs in bonnets as creepy looking old ladies. Why in the world did I want to do that? THANKFULLY, my mother had enough sense (even though we were deep in the 80s) not to let me make this detrimental mistake. No perms either. Thank God. Thanks, mom. At least I still have my dignity.

Another one bites the dust

Highlight of the weekend (and also biggest shock of recent history): Chandle and David are getting married! I honestly can't believe this day has come. :) I had the sneaking suspicion it was coming soon, but he proposed to her this weekend. Congratulations, guys! David, I'm not real happy that you're stealing my Chandle from me, but I will get over it. Take good care of her. :) Who knew she'd actually end up with the boy that was barefoot in the cafeteria? I love you both!

Wakka, wakka, wakka, wakka....

If you type in "Pac Man" on youtube.com's search, you will come up with over 100 hits. I did this, because of this first video. It makes me laugh. Enjoy the
crazy college kids running through the library dressed up as Pac Man and ghost. I particularly enjoy Pac Man screaming and the ghost saying, "wakka wakka wakka wakka" in pursuit. Some of you have already seen this.
It started out simply enough, but then I noticed that apparently this is a phenomena on campuses nationwide. People are doing this all over the place:
more crazy college kids bustin' up on some prof's lecture. I was now thoroughly intrigued. Is this something that's been going on that I've never heard of?? Why was I not involved in this?? How can I make a Pac Man costume myself?? Where would I choose to run through? But above all else: DANG IT, why didn't I think of that? Here's one last selection: A beefed up version complete with "Danger Zone" as a soundtrack. Happy Friday to all!

Toothpaste for Dinner on a dreary Thursday

I'm not really diggin' this whole it's-very-dark-when-I-get-up thing yet. But I enjoy it being light longer in the day. Reminds me of summertime! So Toothpaste for Dinner keeps me happy. They keeps it REAL. This is my wallpaper on my computer. Loves it.
Today I have been nominated to help the accreditation team type of their reports on us here at school. I am considered to be the most advanced with the computer skills. I got skills, apparently. But we all knew that.
Jeremy has returned home so we went to dinner last night. It was lovely. Chandle, if you're reading this- I love you! Have a good day everyone! Gotta run...!

Prehistoric cartoons and Bob Ross

Sorry I didn't get a chance to post yesterday- you know me, busy, busy. Today I get to go to the movies with some of the junior high kids and watch "Ice Age 2." I never saw all of the first one, but I have a hunch I can catch up. Secondly, did everyone see on Best Week Ever that there is a video game being made featuring Bob Ross and his fab painting techniques? Let me go ahead an mention that, as a child, I was a HUGE Bob Ross fan. I would get up early every Saturday just to watch him paint his "happy little trees and clouds." What an inspiration. What a 'fro!
Have a lovely day everyone. Oh- Jeremy comes home today! Hooray! Peace out!

Grumble, grumble...

Spring Break '06 has officially drawn to a reluctant end (boo!). My days of sleeping in just a little while longer, drinking coffee, and staying in my PJs until an ungodly hour in the day are over. Waaah. That's ok because I officially have 38 days of school left. This is the point in the year where I start counting.
Spring Break '06 was lots o' fun. I got to hang out with some of you folks (later than my lame self normally does). I also watched an intense amount of reality TV. All new shows have been offered to me by the cable TV gods. It's incredible: The Real World, 8th and Ocean, The Gauntlet, Surreal Life, Top Chef, and Blow Out. I can't believe it's been so long since I've had cable. Ok, so my spring break wasn't all that thrilling, but it was restful, to say the least. Oh, yeah- and I've taken up knitting again. Ok, I'm lame-o, but the first step is learning to admit it.
Have a good week, everyone!
