I'm formulating a get-rich-quick plan as we speak.

So did you hear the latest from YouTube?

I think we could definitely come up with something better than these guys, and we could make some cash flow! Come on.... who's in?
PS- Ben from Lucero is playing at White Water on Thursday with Cory Brannon (hooray!). Let's go.

Into every generation, a slayer is born.

Chandle got me a freaking AWESOME (just imagine you're a big geek for a minute, put yourself in my position) present for my berfday. Buffy (with stake included), Angel (do NOT use the stake on him...), and Willow (with dorky hat and backpack included) from the beginning of the series. Posable.action.figures. Can't wait to play. Thanks, Chandle. Ohhhh how you know me.
My baby got me this fantastic fun. Who's in???

Ohhhhhhh, JR!

Happy, happy, happy birthday to JR today! You're the best- thanks for always being so good to my Kristen. I couldn't have picked a better hubby for her. :) Love ya!

They say it's (our) birthday!!

Let's see what the Onion has for our horoscope today:
Your Birthday Today
You'll be brought face-to-face with your own mortality this week during a series of harrowing stabs to the jaw and forehead.

Oh, God.
Happy birthday, Kristen!!!!
This is actually a picture from LAST year's bday extravaganza (ahem, not so much on the "extravaganza"- last year I had a bad attitude about my birthday). Whoops, I accidentally painted a little purple freckle on myself in this picture (can you see it?). Anyway, this year I have a much better outlook about turning the big 2-6.
Click here to see my favorite bday parties of all time and here for a truly embarrassing photo of myself.
Fun things for today:
*the teachers made dip for me to put in the lounge for all to enjoy. They know me so well. Mmmmmm.... dip.
*Going to the US Pizza tonight with fam. If you want to meet up later, let me know...
*I'm giving a quiz today for the 7th graders. Whaaaa haaa haa- happy birthday to me!
Love ya, Kristen- have a fantastic day! Happy berfday!

Movin' on up to the east side...

A very huge congrats to mis padres, who are finally making the big move from their house on the west side of town!! They are moving into their new house they built in the Riverdale area. They're right near my dad's office and within walking distance of some fabulous restaurants (Loca Luna, Buffalo Grill, Pizza Cafe.... mmm!). This is a HUGE transition for them (they've lived in their old house for 20+ years!), and I'm so, so happy for them. Their new house is beauuuuuutiful. They've done an excellent job- pics to come soon! So congrats to my folks!! Love you guys!!

What happened?

I decided to follow suit with some of you fellow blogfriends and make an itemized list. Here we go.

  • I have been ridiculously busy at work. Doesn't the end of the semester mean you're caught up and don't have a million things to grade? Nope.
  • It is finally Friday. Thank God almighty. I have no concrete plans as of yet. Besides going to watch the CLS play called "Bedbugs" tomorrow night. It's about a girl who has bedbugs, and she jumps on her bed every night and says the rhyme. Then it tells the story of the bugs, who keep getting injured when she jumps. It's going to be awesome.
  • Last night I made my first attempt at lasagna (good story, Beth).
  • My tv life has once again returned... American Idol is going to be great. Click here to see the scary guy from Wednesday's myspace (courtesy of Best Week Ever, of course). I haven't watched Grey's yet.
  • I haven't hung out with any of you in a long time. Still getting over being sickly. I should be much better in that department (the being-able-to-go-into-public department) soon.

I am officially lame. I apologize for this ridiculously boring blog. My bad.

Oh- Brooke's moving back! Hooray. :)

I am NOT drinking Merlot!

Miles Raymond: Let me show you how this is done. First thing, hold the glass up and examine the wine against the light. You're looking for color and clarity. Just, get a sense of it. OK? Uhh, thick? Thin? Watery? Syrupy? OK? Alright. Now, tip it. What you're doing here is checking for color density as it thins out towards the rim. Uhh, that's gonna tell you how old it is, among other things. It's usually more important with reds. OK? Now, stick your nose in it. Don't be shy, really get your nose in there. Mmm... a little citrus... maybe some strawberry... [smacks lips] ... passion fruit... [puts hand up to ear] ... and, oh, there's just like the faintest soupçon of like asparagus and just a flutter of a, like a, nutty Edam cheese...
Jack: Wow. Strawberries, yeah! Strawberries. Not the cheese...

Maya: What's the title?
Miles Raymond: The Day After Yesterday.
Maya: Oh... You mean today?

Kat, Kristen and I were talking about "Sideways" today on email. They're not big fans, but I love it. I think it's hilarious. And speaking of wine and wine tasting...
Jeremy took me to a class last night on wine at the Satellite Cafe. It was on finding wine bargains (i.e. good wines under $10- NOT Little Penguin). It was lots of fun. We got to taste 7 different tasty wines and got some good tips for finding spectacular deals.
And there was a hint of asparagus....

Also speaking of wine, my parents gave us a new wine kit (a Cabernet Sauvignon), so we should have new tasty homebrew in no time at all!

Whoooaaaaa!

Here's a picture from the Blue-Leah Christmas party that I never posted.... iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin.... color saturation! Whoa! Gettin' crazy 'round here!
Hooray:
1. It's Friday
2. I got to hang out with Kat and Kristen last night (Mexico Chiquito was had, as was Grey's Anatomy)
3. Parker had a good day at school (she came up to visit while I did grades when the kids weren't here)
4. Did I mention that it's Friday?
5. My illness is starting to subside thanks to a miracle pill that Kristen gave me from her doctor. Don't know what it was, but I think it worked. Just a cough lingers.

Have a good weekend, all! Much love.

Kill me now?

Head hurts- check.

Nose stopped up- check.

Sore throat- check.

Floaty-head feeling- check.

Yup. I'm sick. There is some fun stuff going on though. Yesterday, my creative writing class went to the kindergarten class (as in Kristen's Andrew) and read the books they wrote to them. Super cute. Today, my CLUE kids have their board games due that they made, so they're spending the afternoon playing the games and eating junk food. Niiiiiiice. Chocolate cake cures all. :)

Brooke and Treva, togetha 4-eva

Brooke and Trevor have officially tied the knot! Their wedding on Friday was beautiful! And check out the freaking awesome cake that Leah made! I'm in constant amazement at her abilities.
Anyway, the wedding was absolutely lovely. Trevor's sisters sang at the ceremony (tear! So nice.), and the food and drink were taaaaaaasty! Good times were had by all. Good party, Brooke!!
The ladies were lookin' foxy! Loved the color of the dresses.

Go, go, go, go!

Best picture of the night. By far. :) It was good to have our Virginia in town for the festivities!
It's hard to see, but if you look really hard, you can see Brooke's little nephew gettin' down with his bad self of the dance floor. He danced up a storm and was quite entertaining all night. Lots of fun!!

Who knows the words to "Auld Lang Syne"??

Here come the millions and millions of pictures from my Christmas break (did ya miss me??)! We'll start with New Year's and work our way back in time. New Year's Eve, a whole caboodle of us went up to these cabins (click for pics) at Petit Jean. We had two whole cabins, which equals 4 technical cabins. It was a blast. We stayed up way too late on Sunday and spent the whole day Monday watching the Hoggies play.
Anyone else feel that 2007 feels a bit odd? My resolution for this year: to not make promises I can't keep. No resolutions beyond that! :)

We like to call her Pooty.

I'm going to be taking a lot of dog pictures because she's too freaking adorable. We took her camping the day after Christmas to the Flatside Wilderness area (we found a great camping spot, and I got to try out my AWESOME zero degree, down sleeping bag that Jeremy got me). She loved it. She crawled all the way down to the bottom of my sleeping bag and slept there for a while. She's the cutest.
She thanks Karl and Kat for taking good care of her over New Year's!! Ruff!

Oh, the holidays!!

Christmas was absolutely lots of fun. Christmas Eve was spent with my family at Melissa and Greg's house. Lots and lots of presents and fun times. Jeremy and I got lots of wine stuff (glasses, chiller, a cabernet kit so we can make more wine!). It was great. Jeremy got Carleigh Twister, and good times were definitely had by all.
Christmas day was spent at Jeremy's parents' house. We had brunch and did presents and basically hung out. It was very relaxing and fun. The rest of the day was spent playing with new toys and naaaaaping. It was fantastico!

Girl, you'll be a woman soon.

Poor little Parker became "a woman" over the break. Poor little lady. Hee hee hee.

Peace out, yo's

my pimped pic!
Yes, folks. It appears that baby Parker is here to stay. She now has a collar, which means (as Kim says), "We found her! She's OURS!!" (Remember... New Orleans... yes?) Come see her soon! I love her.
It is now 12:30 p.m., and the children are officially gone. Which means I am on my way out the door. Have a very very very merry Christmas, all. Hopefully I'll be able to update some, but don't yell if it's not often. Much love! If you're in the Rock, gimme a holla!

Will you be my friend, kind sir?

Look who Jeremy found in a park near his office! He saw her last week, and Monday she just really wanted to go home with him. Who can resist that face?? So he took her to Judith's vet clinic, and they said she's about 6 months old. She's a wire-haired daschund mixed with some sort of terrier. She's got the SWEETEST face ever, and she's got an awesome personality. She even has a little mohawk. I love, love, love her. She's staying on a "trial basis" (mmm hmmm) right now. She actually got out of the yard yesterday and was picked up by Jeremy's neighbor, who took her right to Judith's vet clinic, and they held on to her till we got there. Whew. It was very scary.
What do you think?? Should we keep her? Leave your votes in the comments section! :)
Oh, her name (on a "trial basis," again) is Parker. Cause he found her in the park. Awwww.

That Dirty, Dirty Santa

La Fiesta de Navidad a la Casa de Blue y Leah was a tremendous success! Personal highlight: the dirty Santa gift exchange. Lots and lots o' fun. Here's Blue with his score of the evening. I can't believe NO one stole it...!
Nari's going to be a happy girl! It makes me laugh that people are pointing at it like, "Dang! I want it!"
Matt's look of pure disappointment that he didn't get the shot glass set. Karl ended up with it, but he shared with all. What a guy!
Favorite parts of this picture: the Chia pet on Kristen's lap and the ten shades of red of JR's face from receiving this gift.
Good times!

Now, THAT was a good time.

Shall we dance? (1, 2, 3, and!)

4.5 days of school left! And today starts the week o' fun! We are going to watch the preschool-first grade Christmas program (like, in a minute here)- STARRING our very own Andrew! After that, the jr. high is going to the Rep to see "The King and I," one of my favorite musicals. Getting to know you... getting to know all about you...!
YES.

Wednesday, December 13, 2006

The words that best describe you are as follows, and I quote: Stink, stank, stunk!

Last night I got to watch "How the Grinch Stole Christmas," which made me a very happy girl. I was wrapping some of my Christmas gifts (hey! I actually bought some the other night!), and I was watching this classic where everyone gangs up on Mr. Grinch, who clearly has a birth defect that causes a small heart. Is it his fault that he hates Christmas? Kat? Hee, hee. :)

Which leads me to some links for the day:

And remember: Welcome, Christmas, bring your cheer. Cheer to all Whos far and near. Christmas Day is in our grasp so long as we have hands to clasp. Christmas Day will always be just as long as we have we. Welcome Christmas while we stand, heart to heart and hand in hand.

:)

For reals?

It struck me today that we are officially two weeks away from Christmas. Two weeks! 14 days. That's crazy. That means a couple of things:
1. I have LESS than two weeks of school left before my sweet Christmas vacation freedom. That's excellent.
2. I need to get my stuff in gear and finish up some Christmas shopping!

Done: Greg, Carleigh, and Cameron. Not done: ummmm everyone else. Is it funny that my "new" family members are the only ones I've figured out completely...? Sorry to everyone else. The love's still there! :) The organization... not so much.
So my goal for this week is to finish my shopping completely. And wrap the presents! I have some fancy Sally Foster paper that's just waiting to be used. We'll see if it happens...

Check it out!

Go on over to Matt and Lindsay's bloggiture to greet the new baby Koss in the world! His hat is very stylish. CONGRATS to the both of them. It's the first baby in our high school family! Call me Aunt Elizabeth. Aunt Fantastico. Whichever you prefer.
