Here Come the Pictures!
Saturday was the long-awaited Halloween party. Eric and Emily- it was a blast! Thanks so much for hosting! I have about a billion pictures of the evening. Here are a few to get us started. Expect others later in the week. To clear up confusion, I was the ice queen from The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Everyone looked awesome. Enjoy the pictures!

Hap, hap, happy Halloween!
Today I have parent-teacher conferences alllll day (you should feel sorry for me- this is sometimes a scary day, especially in this case). But tonight I get to forget all about the pain of the day- for it is time for the annual Oktquickelfest (for those of you who don't know, the Quickels are two teachers here at school). They throw a big German-style part-ay complete with brats and steins. Mmmm! Good!Tomorrow is Eric and Emily's Halloween party. I will have much posting material for next week, so look out! Can't wait to see (most of you) there! For those of you not attending, sorry you can't make it. Have a great weekend!

This one is fun too! I think I have too much time on my hands today. Who's your 80s heart-throb? Mine is...

I'm a Carrie! Which one are you?

Which "Sex and the City" character are you? We all think we're Carrie, but now I have proof . This is what it said about me:
You're quirky, flirty, and every guy's perfect first date. But can the guy in question live up to your romantic ideal? It's tough for you to find the right match - you're more than a little picky. Never fear... You've got a great group of friends and a great closet of clothes, no matter what!
Romantic prediction: You'll fall for someone this year...
Totally different from any guy you've dated.

In the "spirit" of the season

For those of you who are bored today (like me), with anticipation of Halloween coming up: here are some fun links for ghost stories in Central Arkansas. Most of the pictures, etc. look like it's pretty poor photography, but some of them are kind of neato.
Here's a question for you to comment on: Do you believe in ghosts...? Has anything "abnormal/paranormal" ever happened to you?
http://www.americasmosthauntedhotel.com/photos.htm This is a link for the Crescent Hotel in Eureka. If you look closely at the TV in the picture, you can see a woman reflected upside-down. Spooky!
http://www.thespiritseekers.org/Investigation/Investigations.htm There are a lot of Central Arkansas hauntings here. Some pretty cool pictures.
http://www.casprquest.com/ Central Arkansas Society for Paranormal Research- be sure to click on the video for the sanitarium investigation. Oooh! It is dark, so you might have to make your screen brighter.
By the way- There is an actual "ghost buster" here in Arkansas. You can e-mail him if you need a good bustin'. He goes by "RIP".

I've gone domestic

I'm not entirely sure what happened to me this weekend, but I began acting very strangely. Friday was fairly normal- I went to a new place called the Fountain with Karl, Kat, Melissa, Eric, and Emily. It was a pretty early evening, though. Maybe I should have known something was up then. Saturday I met Kim and Cody for lunch and a trip to the mall (turns out I've been to the mall twice in three weeks- I hate the mall, by the way). THEN the strange behavior began. I came home, and I knitted. I knitted for hours. I picked up this hobby a few months ago, but it comes and goes. I finished two scarves in one afternoon. That evening, I didn't do anything. At all. I sat in my apartment watching Buffy, and I fell asleep at like 9:30. 9:30!! I got a full 12 hours of sleep that night. The next morning I got up and baked. That's right- I baked pumpkin chocolate chip bread. Then I cleaned my house and did laundry. What's happened to me?? I'm just going to have to hold on to the hope that I will come back around again. Here's to hoping.
PS- Check out my new counter under my links. They're apples. Ha, ha. Get it?

I have returned!
Sorry I haven't posted in forever. I have been in the great metropolis of Memphis (Three-Six Mafia, yo!) attending an oh-so-enriching teachers' conference. I feel ready to face anything now! Bring it on kids, I can handle any situation. Uhhhh, no, not really. I DO only have 2 days of school this week, so that makes me happy. I have rediscovered that those Lutherans sure are fun. We went down to Beale St. and I had a beer or two with former teachers. How fun is that? Once again, however, I forgot to bring my camera cord today so I could upload pictures, so you get a random picture of Sebastian.Tonight is Survivor night at Kristen's house- whoo hoo! I am having one of my very last volleyball practices today. I can't believe our season is almost over. We have our last season game on the 25th. You guys should see Kristen coach. She's really good. :)
Since I don't have much interesting to say today... I'll leave you with yet another assundry of deep thoughts:
*If you ever teach a yodeling class, probably the hardest thing is to keep the students from just trying to yodel right off. You see, we build to that.
*If a kid asks where rain comes from, I think a cute thing to tell him is "God is crying." And if he asks why God is crying, another cute thing to tell him is "Probably because of something you did."
*Any time I see something screech across a room and latch onto someone's neck, and the guy screams and tries to get it off, I have to laugh, because what is that thing??

It had teeth and hair... that's right. It was my twin.
Virginia, this one's for you! I had a lovely conversation with my mom last night, when she told me about some TV she had watched the night before. It was "101 Things Removed From the Human Body" which aired on TLC on Wednesday night. Hmmm.... sounds interesting, you might think? Listen to this. There was man on it that appeared to be pregnant. She said from the side, there was a noticeable bulge in his belly. This all took place in India, by the way. So he finally went to the doctor, realizing, GEE! There might be something wrong! The doctor isn't sure what it is, but they decide to operate and remove whatever is ailing this poor man. He removes quite a bit of liquid, and then discovers.... you ready for this....?A hand. And a little person. That is correct, folks. This man's underdeveloped twin had been living in his stomach for YEARS. It had several body parts and was just hanging out in his bro's tummy. AAAAAAAHHHHH!
As some of you might recall, Virginia had a certain obsession for just this type of phenomena. It more accurately scares the bejesus out of her. She made us all watch an "X-Files" episode called "Humbug" where an underdeveloped twin detached itself from his circus freak brother and would kill people at night. That's the evil twin in the middle-top of the picture. Ooooooh science fiction. Something to think about. This sort of freaky stuff really happens. Maybe even to you.
I'll be in Memphis for a teacher's conference Monday through Wednesday, so you won't be hearing from me for a while. Have a great weekend. And watch out for people who have little twins living inside them. They can kill you. :)

Nothing too exciting today
Last night was my first official night "off" where I had absolutely NO obligations at all. No Buffalo Grill. No volleyball. Nothing. Except for my obligation to America's Next Top Model and my brand new purchase of the OC Season 2. Emily, I got it... we can watch it. :) I'm thinking about cutting my hair similar to Jayla here. She's the one on the right. Not the man in the witch's costume. What do you think, guys? Should I chop it all of?
On a completely different side note... I'd like to give a shout out to my old friend Kimmy P. We can't seem to catch each other at a good time to talk on the phone, and I miss her. Remember when she used to do Fat Baby and squish her face up? Remember her extreme love for Frank Brannon's lemonade and Brother T's home cookin'? And the story of Mad Dog? And how she drives a car named Sushimoto? I could go on and on... but I'll just say we miss and love you, Kim! Where are you?? Are you coming back to the Rock Town ever??

S'mores and Urinals
Hello everyone! I forgot my camera cord yesterday, so I couldn't upload pictures. PLUS, I was (gasp!) busy! I know, I know. Crazy.
I had a pretty good, autumn-like weekend. Friday I went to Ciao Bacci's (a restaurant/bar near my apartment) with Melissa, Sarah, Katie, Christy, and Rose. We sat out on the deck and ate s'mores. It's really cool- they bring out a little fire to your table and you can all roast marshmallows right there. I like mine burnt to a crisp on all sides. Mmmm. Good. Apparently you should not stick your marshmallow too far down into the fire, because whatever they use to keep it lit is green and will get on your food. I pulled a "Virginia" as well at this slightly upscale bar. I asked the girls where the bathroom was, and they told me there was one in the middle of the restaurant. So I get back from the bathroom and say that I thought it was weird there was a urinal in the bathroom. They laughed at me- a lot. Apparently there was NOT just one bathroom, but I had used the men's. They meant it was a one-seater. Thanks, ladies. Really. I particularly appreciate it because there was a guy waiting to use the bathroom after me. I'm real smooth.
Saturday I hung out with Cody all day and went out with Melissa and Sarah in the evening. And Sunday was my last day at the Buffalo Grill. I will officially have some "free time" now. Whenever I don't have volleyball (which is almost over, by the way)... or yearbook... or Odyssey of the Mind. Why do I do this to myself?? :) Oh- I talked to Chandle this weekend and she's doing great up there in DC. She's making friends at Camp Americore. Ok, I didn't mean to make this a "this-is-how-much-fun-I-had-this-weekend" entry. My bad. Hope you're all doing well!

Halloween is just a few weeks away...

I need help, folks. Halloween is pretty much my favorite holiday. I know most people say Christmas with the Santa and the presents or Thanksgiving with the turkey galore, but I love Halloween. I love all things about it. I love the costumes, I love going to costume parties, I love candy, and I love being scared. And it's all wrapped up into one holiday! Or a week of celebrations like we used to do in Conway.
I need help deciding what I should be. I already have a pretty good idea, but I don't want to spoil the surprise, and I want input first. Things I have already been:
1. the main character in Hitchcock's "The Birds"
2. Cruella DeVil (not as cool as this picture, but it was a dang good costume)
3. Wayne- Chandle was Garth
4. Billy Madison (Chandle had a penguin costume- last year we did "couple" costumes- our options were limited)
5. Anna Paquin's "X-Men" character whose name I can't remember right now- the one who froze everything and had to wear gloves
Things I WILL not be:
1. A clown. NOTHING is scarier than a clown.
2. Anything with wings. Too many girls try to be so cutsy with wings.
3. Anything that requires a short skirt. Self explanatory.
Any thoughts, people? What are YOU going to be?
AND PS.... where's the party?? :)

These made me laugh

Adios, Chandle!

As promised, this weekend I went up to the NWA to say goodbye to my wonderful friend Chandle. She's leaving this morning for D.C. to join AmeriCorps. She's completely hard core. Friday we went to Fayetteville to visit Virginia. Little did we know that there would be 300,000 crazy bikers ALSO in Fayetteville this weekend for the Biker, Blues, and BBQ festival. It was insane. We had to park like a mile from V's apartment and wind our way through the millions of cars parked on the streets. We attempted Dixon Street, but we could barely move, and the smell of leather and exhaust was overwhelming. I don't think I'll become a biker babe any time soon!
Saturday, Chandle's parents had a family gathering to say goodbye. Megan Page came into town (she lives in Lincoln, which is about 20 minutes from Siloam Springs). We went to her house after the par-tay and hung out on her deck that her hubby built. It was great to see her! I had a great time up there!
Chandle- I am so proud of you! You're doing a great thing up there, and you're going to be wonderful. Fantastico goes to Washington! Good luck, and we will miss you!!
PS- I have 3 posts today... make sure you read them!
Happy Birthday, Cody!
Reasons I love Mitta Verst (Cody):1. He can recite "Sex and the City" quotes almost as well as I can.
2. We are an UNSTOPPABLE force at Trivial Pursuit, Pop Culture Edition.
3. Although he lives in Mo-town (Morrilton... eeew), he has maintained his incredible coolness.
4. We see movies together that other people make fun of us for seeing... "Freaky Friday," and other great Lindsay Lohan blockbusters. But we love them.
5. He loves a certain show about elderly women living together. He has a special place in his heart for Bea Arthur. He also does a KILLER impression of her.
6. During the best summer EVER when we worked together at summer day camp, we did a lip sync where he was Justin Timberlake, I was Cristina Aguilera, and Chandle was Brittany Spears.
7. Did I mention that he knows the entire "Dirty Pop" dance from start to finish??
8. We used to have Tuesday dinner night, where I would consistently try to talk him into any sort of ethnic food, and we would always end up going to Quizno's. Mmm! Toasty!
9. His love for "Buffy" rivals my own.
10. He's my boo, yo! Need I say more??
Happy birthday, Cody. You're old. :)
